Saturday Opening
We begin the journey with co-host Tonye Aganaba opening with a musical performance. Co-host Pulxaneeks introduces Diane Sam (səwəyələk), a member of the lək̓ʷəŋən people to welcome us to the land where the headquarters are located (colonial name Victoria, Canada). We then hear from elder Klasom Satlt'xw Losah (Rose Henry) speak about the Fairy Creek Blockade and her perspective on the Feminine.
Leah Lamb
(Storyteller + Q&A)
Our first storyteller Leah Lamb, shares the story: The Becoming of Great Mother, which explores some big themes: what is Earth’s influence on the Universe? Could it be that she is actually the maiden...going through a great initiation, and we are holding the dream of her becoming The Great Mother? And what promise did we make to her in exchange for living with her at this time? This story asks for you to sit on the edge of your seats as you midwife this story, and speak your part into this story.
Niema Lightseed (Poet) | Yaima (Musician)
Niema Lightseed offers some exquisite spoken word, where dragons are allies and friends are witches. Yaima then invites integration through their soulful musical performance.
Ash Arising (Movement) | Lyla June (Storyteller)
Ash Arising channels the play and spirit of the river, while indigenous activist Lyla June speaks of multiple creation stories and the necessity of honouring the women.
Maya Luna (Spoken Word) | Shay Au Lait (Movement)
Maya Luna weaves poetry and storytelling to illuminate the pandemic as a collective descent into the underworld, through the archetypal lens of the story of Inanna. Shay Au Lait offers a tender and raucous burlesque movement piece.
Zhenevere Sophia Dao
Founder of the philosophy of Post-Daoism and the MogaDao practice tradition, Zhenevere shares her story of trans emergence, illuminated through the tale of The Shepherdess.
Hannah Sophia (Spoken Word) | Safiya Labelle (Musician)
Hannah performs “I, the Storm" telling the story of the rising storm and the sacred feminine reclaiming land and and decomposing old ways of being. Safiya closes the day with an integrative musical performance.
Closing Harvest Pulxaneeks & Tonye
