After the ceremony
Reflecting on the event with Ian & Zamir
A Conversation with Ian & Zamir
Released for Beltane 2021, this conversation is a look back at the magical weekend that brought together storytellers, musicians and poets for a journey into the soul of masculinity. Also, we hint at the future event to come…
A Letter from host Ian MacKenzie
There are a few times in life when you’re fortunate enough to know that you’re in on something profound and undeniably magical…as it’s actually happening.
This past weekend, that’s how I felt.
In the early weeks of planning, I didn’t know what to call it. A conference? A confluence? A festival?
And so I called it the only thing that felt clear: it would be a gathering of stories. What I realized by the time we started midday, I recognized it for what it truly was.
A ceremony.
For two days, alongside my dear brother and co-host Zamir Dhanji, we inquired into the soul of masculinity. We were graced by powerful stories, deep conversation, gorgeous musical performances, and searing spoken word. The journey was at times playful, tender, and soulful, inviting in a deep compassion for masculinity in these times.
There is much to be said in the weeks to come, and much that I wish to offer you to keep the magic and momentum going.
For those of you who have already registered, you will be able to stream the recordings by Feb 22, 2021.
